I
took the new camera over to Roger's house to watch on his HDTV, and
recorded the kids playing a bit outside and low-light to see how it
looked.

Today was Sadie's first day at Kindergarten. Grandma, Mommy,
Daddy, and David drove her to the school. Grandma said her
goodbyes in the parking lot so Mommy and Daddy could walk her into
her classroom.
We
met her teachers and they showed us where everything goes.
Sadie gave her teacher the note she wrote (Part 1 of 3), and her
teacher sat her down and explained how most of the kids would be
scared as well.
There was only a little bit of crying drama as we were leaving the
room, but it stopped after a few seconds and Sadie had a great day.
Beginning of a new year for her.

COMING SOON - Getting ready for school the first day can be a job in
itself. We have to leave the house around 7:15am. For
two kids who like to stay up late, that's a little earlier than
we're used to.
Sadie had all her school supplies packed in her new SWD backpack
from Uncle Jose and Aunt Dawn. So far so good.

COMING SOON - The night before Sadie's first day of school, she was
feeling a bit nervous. She told Daddy she wanted to write her
teacher a note. I helped her spell some of the words she said,
and she wrote it.
"Dear Teacher, I am scared of some of the kids except Alexis.
Please help me. Sadie."
We
went to visit Uncle Brian before he got deployed to Iraq this year.
Had a fun time playing with cousin Molly and Abby, and was nice to
meet big baby Jake!
And
I just realized that David and Abby aren't in these pictures, they
must have been off doing their own thing when I had the camera out.

Santa came early in the morning to drop off some presents and eat
his Santa snacks that Sadie and David left out for him.
The
kids were pretty sleepy but got very excited after seen what Santa
had left them.
We took Sadie and David for their Christmas
portraits last week. Amazingly, pretty much every picture
wasn't bad. Some were better than others, but we didn't have
any that were terrible. Sadie and David were in good moods
today, even though we had to wait almost an hour extra for our turn.

Sadie was a
princess, and David was Bob the Builder. Thanks Grandma for the cute
outfits. We got more candy then we could ever eat ourselves, so Mom and
Dad said they'd help us. They're so nice.
We took a late
summer (and badly needed) vacation to South Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach SC.
We mostly ate Pizza from UCP
and played on the beach. Sadie and David learned what pirates are, mostly
from all the miniature golf parks along the strip.
Sadie learned
how to flip over the swinging bar. Shortly after I put my camera away,
David was doing it too. I'll probably make a video of him doing it soon as
well.
Sadie first
tried rock climbing when she was about 2 1/2, but we never got around to going
back. Then a few weeks ago we started going to Rock Tots at "RedPoint
Indoor Climbing" on Saturday mornings.
They free-climb
without a harness about 15' vertical, and with the harness they go up about 30'
or so.

NOTE: This video
is VERY large and will take several minutes even on a high-speed connection.
I suggest downloading it to your computer vs streaming it online.
Sadie obviously watches Daddy type on the
computer all day, so she asked if she could press the letters too.
I fired up "Notepad", and after having her spell hers and David's
name, I ask her what other words she wanted to spell. So she'd
say a word, I tell her the letters, and she'd find the letter on
keyboard and type it.
The cutest part to me was the random words
she wanted to spell.
We spent this Christmas week at Grandma and
Grandpa's house on Long Island. Uncle Jack flew up from
Atlanta, and of course Aunt Heather, Aunt Dawn and Uncle Ho Ho came
as well.
We got so many toys that Grandma and
Grandpa are going to come see us in January with the rest of the
gifts that would not fit in our car.
Although the video is only 3 minutes, we
spent about 3 hours opening gifts, then Aunt Dolores and cousins
Eric, Mark, and Allison came over for Christmas lunch. Great
food and times were had by all.
This is a spin-off of the music video "Girl Next Door"
by "Saving Jane".
People have asked me if Sadie is the "girl next door"
or the "homecoming queen".
Well, that's up to Sadie, and whatever she wants to be is fine
with us. She'll always be our baby. This is just a video
montage some of her favorite memories.
Sadie and David had a nice time playing croquet with cousins
Molly and Abby.

Fire Station

Ginger setup a play date with Katelyn, Sadie, Robert, Noah, and
Andrew at the Fayetteville Fire Station.
Although Sadie wasn't in the best of moods today, she still
managed to have a good time and Dad learned a little history of
Fayetteville's Fire Department.
Now when she sees a fire truck, she's quick to point and say
"FIRE TRUCK!".
Sadie got this rock wall to add-on to the play set. The
first day it was installed, she scaled it like Spiderman.
What Dad didn't realize until just in the nick of time was that
the top board of the wall wasn't nailed down (at all, see the 24th
second) during this whole video. After filming, Sadie climbed
it again and when she grabbed the top board it came right off.
Luckily Dad was there and everything was OK...
After extensive
debate, we decided to have Sadies tonsils removed. After
they were removed, Dr. Dickerson found they were even larger than he
initially thought.
